Abstract :
In this paper a new method for treating wedge vane is given. Firstly a reasonable solution of electromagnetic field in the gaps between the vanes is carried out. Secondly strict boundary condition equations of the electromagnetic fields on the vane tips are formulated and essential Fourier expansion has been done before matching the field coefficients within vane gaps with those in the inner layer. Besides, the helical coordinate theory recently developed by the authors is also used to treat tape shape helix. A practical vane-loaded tape shape helix slow wave structure is calculated and the theoretical results accord with experiments precisely. The accordance between theory and experiment not only implies the availability of the method for treating wedge vane in this paper but also reaffirms the availability of the helical coordinate theory recently developed by the authors
