Abstract
A linear pulse motor with cylindrical structure is proposed. The cylindrical structure is useful because of its compact actuator, easy handling, and small gap maintenance. Suitable configurations to reduce the thrust unbalance are examined. Dynamic thrust force and step error are also examined, and an optimum configuration and magnet arrangement are discussed. It is clear that the compensation magnet added to the outer pole is very effective for improving the thrust unbalance and dynamic thrust force.<>
