Abstract
The authors deal with the description of a computer model designed to study the reliability of substations. This model has been used in the planning of the electrical supply to the 1992 Universal Exhibition in Seville in order to discover exactly which model of all of those studied would offer the sufficient degree of reliability required by the Exhibition authorities. The authors apply the model to three variants of a single bar substation: with breakers; with disconnectors; and with remote control disconnectors. Each corresponding degree of reliability is assessed by extracting ratios of reliability/investment which show the advantages of each possibility. In conclusion they can see the limits of maximum power and energy consumption justifying each case
