Abstract
An FDTD method for accurate characterization of planar circular resonators is developed. A microstrip disk resonator and a stripline disk resonator are examined. The computed resonant frequencies of the microstrip resonator are in good agreement with results calculated by the boundary integral equation method. Variation of the resonant frequency and external Q value of the stripline disk resonator is investigated with different geometrical dimensions. Both the measured resonant-frequency and the external Q value of the stripline disk resonator agree well with the FDTD predictions
