Abstract
The surface phenomena of individual small glass particles present in nonconducting fluids is addressed. A simple conducting film model is used to extract particle characteristics from experimental measurements. In order to investigate small particle phenomena, a dielectrophoretic (DEP) levitator was constructed. Spectra of individual particles measured with the DEP levitator reveal a dielectric relaxation that depends strongly on the amount of water present on the surface.<>
