Abstract :
The open area test site (OATS) for EMC is an open test space, the ground of which is the conductive plane without any surrounding shelter around. It is an essential test used as a standard. However, with the space electromagnetic (EM) frequency spectrum being widely used, the use of OATS is becoming more and more restricted so that it has no practical operational value for most occasions. As an alternative the GTEM cell was established. The operation frequency band of GTEM can reach 0-18 GHz. The precision and repeatability of the results appear to be excellent. The GTEM cell occupies a smaller space, is easy to operate and costs less. Hence it has been accepted as the standard EMC test facility
