Abstract :
The electrical and mechanical forces acting on a corona wire are investigated using the wire vibration system consisted of a suspended wire and parallel-plate electrodes. Using the characteristics of the obtained forces, the equation of wire motion is derived taking account of the time lag in the repulsive force caused by the ions produced by corona discharge. The obtained solution gives the self-excited vibration and agrees well with the experimental results. Therefore, it is concluded that the corona induced vibration of the corona wire is due to the time lay in the repulsive force.<>
