Abstract :
In this paper, the technical stream on a high efficiency and high frequency chopper for the automotive industry, new energy and energy conservation technology field is surveyed. QRAS and SAZZ topologies aimed for the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) drive application were proposed. 25 kHz-8 kW QRAS, 100 kHz-8 kW SAZZ choppers and 50 kHz-25 kW bilateral SAZZ-1 chopper were constructed and tested under rating conditions. It was verified that SAZZ topology retained high efficiency even at the increased operating frequency of 100 kHz. It is shown that high efficiency can be realized at high operating frequency even in high power converters by QRAS and newly proposed SAZZ soft switching topologies.
