Abstract :
Increasing awareness worldwide of environmental issues such as global warming have also had a major impact on the automotive industry, especially over the past 10 years. One major result of this impact is the advent of the so-called hybrid-electric-vehicles. Although there have been many attempts to develop electrically powered automobiles throughout the history of the industry, none has ever been a commercial success. One solution to making these vehicles commercially successful is the electrical power management technology used in hybrid-electric-vehicles. In this paper, we report on the history of the development of high-voltage harnesses for hybrid-electric-vehicles as well as suggest avenues for future research.
