Abstract :
This paper presents a quadrature LO generation circuit with ultra-low power consumption. Apart from applications such as such as sensor networks and medical implants, we show that it could even be used as part of a secondary WCDMA receiver, since most of the time the signal conditions are significantly relaxed compared to the worst case scenario. Consisting of an oscillator and frequency divider, the circuit, manufactured in 65nm CMOS, consumes less than 250µW from a 0.65V supply while operating in the 2.14GHz band.
