Abstract :
The rapid developments of technology and science have made automation broadly applied in all aspects of human-machine systems. In reality automation does not merely supplant but changes human activities, and can impose new coordination demands on human operators. For the whole system security and reliability, proper design of automation systems is very essential. Based on a thorough analysis of automation effects on human-machine systems, especially on human operators, this paper presents one feasible framework of automation design guided by human-centered automation, with the expectation to prompt the design of human-machine systems and the cooperation between human and machine, especially automation systems, and further to enhance whole system security and reliability. Moreover, the analysis results may be of great benefit to the task allocation of human-machine interaction and the design of automation support systems in emergency situations.
