Abstract
A simple fine-frequency estimation algorithm that makes use of power information only is described. The simplest methods that are currently used are based on finding the peak of the parabola that interpolates a local maximum value in the power spectrum together with the two adjacent power values. This method is based on performing a least-squares fit of a parabola with a fixed shape to the peak power value and the two adjacent values. The resulting closed-form, high-accuracy method yields estimates that are less biased than those provided by the interpolation formula, but with a simpler computation
