  • Abstract
Biomass is widely used now because of its renewable and release characteristics. It has been an important substitute of fossil energy. Because of low melting temperature, agglomeration becomes a big problem to be solved. In this paper, the ash melting and combustion characteristics of corn stalk, rice chaff and wood scrap and their compounds with different weight percentage were examined. The results showed that each pure sample had different melting temperature ranged from about 1100°C to over 1520°C, and by blending biomass with better ash melting characteristics could improve the ash melting characteristics of biomass with worse characteristics. Shaping pressure had certain effect on combustion characteristics of biomass compound pellets, while shaping temperature had less effects.
