Abstract :
Urban 3D geological survey has become a new developing direction in the domain of geology. One of primary purpose of such project is to build urban geological information system which is able to provide different geologic information representation forms for people with different geologic knowledge background. Data-information-knowledge-wisdom (DIKW) hierarchy based urban geological information visualization pattern is introduced. Accordingly, the modern multi-dimensional geological diagram based urban geological information visualization architecture is presented, which seamlessly integrates 2D and 3D GIS according to the special requirements of urban geology. This architecture and related principles, methods have been undertaken in Shanghai 3D urban geological information management and service system. Over 50 thousands bores can be used as the basic data for multidimensional modeling and visualization in this system.
