Abstract :
This paper studies the performance changing case of modified asphalt and its mixture with a new asphalt modifier BMA. The performance tests have been done by adding different content of BMA, such as penetration, softening point, ductility of asphalt, and rutting, water damage of asphalt mixture. The study results show that the BMA modifier is an effective asphalt modifier. While the BMA content in asphalt is increasing, the penetration is reducing, and softening point is increasing, and penetration index is increasing too, but the ductility is reducing. By using BMA modifier asphalt, the asphalt mixture has better high temperature stabilizaton, better temperature sensibility and better water damaging resistance. In addition, it is economic for BMA modifier asphalt. According to the using practise, there is good social and economic benefits for BMA modified asphalt pavement with reduction of the early damage and longer service life of heavy traffic asphalt pavement.
