Abstract :
The present market faces the challenges of mass customization where configuration design can be regarded as a core technology. Considering the fuzziness of customer demands and the complexity of components, configuration design is complex. According to the individual requirements of customers, the great number of product variants can be generated. In order to develop a computer-aided integrated platform for the application of configuration design, we build the model of configuration design through the multi-domain, including customer domain, functional domain, physical domain and behavior domain. Behavior domain is introduced into the framework of configuration design for product variants. The transmission of multi-domain is supported by the conversion from design matrix to design structure matrix. Moreover, the result of product variants in behavior domain contributes to satisfy the individual requirements of customers. Consequently, we developed a computer-aided integrated platform with our proposed method to implement the innovative design of injection molding machine. This study is of practical importance to the configuration design of large and complex products.
