Abstract
This talk addresses the developing field of solid-state lighting (SSL). The use of high-power light-emitting diode (HB-LED) in lighting is generally called SSL. We shall start with a review of the current status of SSL technology and its potential impact to our society. As in any solid-state and semiconductor electronics application, packaging technology plays an important role in the solid-state lighting component as well. We shall provide a review of current electronic package solutions and issues. We shall conclude the talk with our view on the future developments in solid-state lighting.
