Abstract :
Correct modeling and identification of synchronous machines for accurate transient/dynamic stability or subsynchronous resonance studies has been attracted many researchers for long years. One of challenges in this regard is high order modeling of rotor to take into account the distributed behavior of the solid rotor iron via assumption a number of RL branches in the model besides the branches related to the field and damper windings. In this paper the solid rotor iron and the actual damper windings are modeled in a frame a network equivalent as a transmission matrix representation approximated by rational functions. In this way one is released of thinking about the model structure and its order. The network equivalent is identified based on standstill frequency response (SSFR) tests results using the vector fitting method that has proved its accuracy and efficiency for identification of rational functions.
