  • Abstract
This paper proposes a new control method for the induction motor drive without the use of any speed sensor. This new method is named advanced speed-sensorless induction-motor drive (ASID). This paper presents the formulation for the speed-sensorless control of induction motors using the extended Kalman filter (EKF) method. This paper details the ASID control. This new, simple, accurate, and computationally efficient field-oriented control is derived for induction motor drives without the use of any motor speed sensor. Equations are given for computations of the motor speed, the rotor flux, and the flux position. The ASID and EKF control algorithms are described, and comparison of them is given. A computer dynamic model for the ASID simulations is provided.
