  • Abstract
    Considering the fuzzy features of the construction site, combining with standard site classification and their feature period isoline diagrams classified by current seism-resistant code, the two-dimension membership function expressions about the four classes of site classification based on equivalent cut wave speed (vse) and covering layer thickness (dov) was established. Then, based on MCU technology, a sit classification instrument for seism-resistant design is developed using the fuzzy membership function. Using the instrument we can obtain the results of site continuous classification through fuzzy processing and defuzzification for site characteristic. The continuous characteristic period of site can be achieved by selection the classification of design seismic. Engineering cases show that this method can get more precise results of continuous classification. The results around the boundary region are flatter and overcome the break of site classification. The characteristic period obtained by the instrument agree well with the isoline of current seism-resistant code. It lays a foundation for seism-resistant design projects to objectively determine site classification and take reasonable seism-resistant policy.
