Abstract
The work presented in this paper proposes a new application of a switched reluctance machine working in the generating mode. The generator has the advantage of being simple in construction, is operated from a variable speed prime-mover and has a low excitation to output power ratio. The complete analysis, modeling and simulation with the drive circuit and control have been presented for different types of load. Comparison between the computed and test results showed good agreement and the model has been justified
