The most important advances in the evolution of human factors engineering (HFE) at Hewlett-Packard have been those that facilitate effective communication and coordination. Establishing effective interdisciplinary design teams, creating and disseminating company and industry standards and guidelines, and extending existence processes to encompass usability engineering concerns have been key to the acceptance and succession of usability engineering
