Abstract :
Experience has shown that motors retrofitted with inverter-fed drives (IFDs) are seeing an increase in the number of stator winding failures, due to repetitive surge activity. This paper documents quantitative observations of surge nature (i.e. risetime and magnitude) on both medium and low voltage motors
