Abstract :
Along with the industrial success of precise colour communication using calibrated computer screens, images captured by digital cameras are widely used for realistic product simulation and true colour communication through the computer network. The need to simulate texture, through its precise micro-level colour variation characteristics, as opposed to simulating and presenting an overall pleasing picture of an object, cannot be over-stressed. This study compares the performance of a high-end and a low-end digital camera in terms of accuracy of colorimetric characterisation and WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) colour texture simulation
