Abstract :
The authors present an optoneural approach to the problem of multitarget tracking. The proposed hybrid optoneural system uses an optical joint transform correlator to reduce the massive input target data into a few correlation peak signals. Then, the parallel computational neural network algorithm is used for effective target tracking data association based on those correlation signals. For real-time operation, a joint transform correlator was optically implemented using a high-resolution liquid crystal display spatial light modulator. Computer simulation and experimental results on simultaneous tracking of multiple targets are provided
