Abstract :
Criteria for comparing fixed-point and floating-point arithmetics are established. It is proved by theoretical analysis and simulation results that low-roundoff-noise structures for fixed-point arithmetic are also low roundoff noise for floating point. Computer results for roundoff-noise power are given, and some conclusions are derived for both arithmetics
