  • Abstract
180 air-cooled units of 150 MVA and more with over 400 accumulated operating years are in operation worldwide. Three units of 300 MVA have been commissioned. Efficiencies of up to 98.8% are witnessed by Lloyds. A clear total cost benefit over hydrogen technology is demonstrated. There is a potential for unit ratings up to 500 MVA. In this paper the cooling principles and design features are discussed
