Abstract :
This paper presents a new expert system based dynamic load shedding scheme for Navy shipboard power systems (SPS). In this load shedding scheme analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is utilized for dynamically prioritizing the loads in SPS. The novelty of the proposed load shedding scheme lies in the fact that this scheme takes into account the various system critical natures of each load. This load shedding scheme tries to maximize the various system benefits and minimize load curtailment. The developed methodology was implemented on a test system in a simulation environment that employs a commercial real-time digital simulator allowing real time simulations of large scale power systems. An illustration of the developed load shedding scheme is presented
