Abstract
A method for assigning the eigenvalues for multi-input systems is proposed which involves changing the system matrices to upper Hessenberg form and then using a canonical feedback matrix. A transformation matrix is used with eigenvectors and generalized eigenvectors to assign the real and complex eigenvalues using the real arithmetic operations only. The feedback gain matrix is chosen to be in a canonical form so that the effect of changing the elements of the transformed Hessenberg form matrix will not be in the first row. As the number of inputs increases, the number of rows to be changed will increase as well
