Abstract :
This paper provides some study results on high pressure discharge lamps impedance behavior. Using commercial high intensity discharge (HID) lamps first supplied with a current driven dimmable commercial electronic ballast, lamp impedance variation as a wattage function was investigated. Further measurements were done in order to verify that the lamp has a linear comportment within its normal operation window. Lamp was then supplied with a system approaching a voltage source. From these results, qualitative understanding and related conclusions about lamp-supply interaction can be drawn
