Abstract
The curved profile grating antenna is analyzed by the staircase approximation, involving the grating into fine layers and approximating each of these by rectangular profiles. The approximation may be made as accurate as desired by subdividing the original grating layer into a sufficient number of thinner layers. Therefore, the calculation of the grating antenna with curved profile is completed by the analysis of the multilayer rectangular periodic structure. The effects of groove profile on the performance of the grating antennas are thus systematically studied. Numerical results are presented.<>
