  • Abstract
    The authors present a design methodology for a monolithic sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) 16-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analog (D/A) data conversion system. This design is directed toward high performance signal processing applications such as digital audio and high speed models. This converter consists of a third-order Σ-Δ analog modulator, a fourth-order Σ-Δ digital noise shaper, two comb filters, two halfband FIR (finite impulse response) filters, two compensation filters, and a 6th-order switch capacitor Bessel analog filter. A serial interface is provided and supports multiple devices from a single serial port while maintaining sampling coherency between channels
