Abstract :
With poplar as the research object, tree simulation algorithm and simulation method combined with tree growth were investigated. With iteration function system (IFS) algorithm to perform single-plant simulation, a modified IFS iterative algorithm was proposed. The new method overcomes the drawback in original IFS iteration algorithm, i.e., too much self-similarity, and makes grown trees more authentic. In the mean time, the IFS fractal simplification algorithm was proposed, with which the program running efficiency can be improved provided that tree conformation is not affected. This paper presents a fractal growth method with a growth model to control IFS, which combines the improved algorithm and the growth model. Combination of the conformation model and the growth model makes simulation of natural tree growth more vividly.
