Abstract
The DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) engineering to manufacturing BRIDGE provides valuable service to the product development community through effective organization, control, access, and distribution of product information. The introduction and utilization of the BRIDGE, utilizing an internal object-based database technology (built on the D-BUS architecture), represents advancements in both technical implementation and cultural acceptance of change. The author focuses on the description of the system, its technical underpinnings, an assessment of lessons learned, and future plans.<>
