  • Abstract
    In Kumar and Branner (1995), a mathematical relation of the Legendre polynomials is utilized to simplify the relation between the array factor and current distribution of typical linear and planar unequally spaced arrays. The specific advantage of this development is that the array currents are reconstructed, from a knowledge of limited far-zone electric field data, recursively in closed form, without the need of general matrix inversion techniques to obtain the array currents. A similar approach was utilized previously by the authors to reconstruct array currents of spherical arrays (Kumar and Branner, 1994). In this paper, the reconstruction technique is compared for the accuracy with standard IMSL matrix techniques by computing the mean squared error between the exact and the reconstructed currents.
