Abstract
A new class of antennas, the sinusoidal antennas, has been proposed to meet the demand of short, wideband antennas for wireless communications. A printed antenna has been developed which is 34% shorter than a straight quarter-wave monopole. This antenna has similar radiation pattern like a straight monopole and has a gain of 3.8 dBi compared to 5.1 dBi of a straight monopole. The cross-polarization is below -27 dB and the half-power beam width (HPBW) is 44° (compared to 39° for a straight quarter-wave monopole)
