Abstract :
With the development of the intelligent transport system, it has become an inevitable trend to achieve dynamic navigation services in adapting real-time traffic information. ESRI shapefile digital map format is firstly introduced in this paper, and a real-time navigation data model based on user-defined layers in shapefile, which makes it feasible for vehicle navigation applications, is proposed next. Then various attributes of the layers, especially the ones support real-time traffic information on the road section layer, are discussed in order to meet the demand for dynamic navigation. A structure of the real-time vehicle navigation system is presented in the end for practical applications.
