Abstract
With the advent of fast Internet capable of delivering media to subscribers, whether via wired or wireless connections, streaming services constantly increase, and will continue to increase, their shares of the services provided by telecom operators. In order to build a business based on these services, the quality the subscribers perceive has to be accurately measured. This paper proposes an improved method of monitoring various quality indicators of a service providing media data to user equipment. Compared to existing solutions, the proposed method is more accurate and cost-efficient in metrics measurement and reporting. The overheads (including traffic overhead and CPU/memory utilizations) are also significantly lowered.
