Abstract
In public places such as banks, hospitals and schools which require higher safety, when the emergent circumstances of serious natural disasters or terrorist attacks are happened, the traditional means of communication rely on the base station were often restricted seriously by the environment and lots of difficulties are created to the rescue work. To counter this limitation, an emergency response system based on wireless mesh network for public safety defense is proposed in this paper. ARM (Advanced RISC Machines) was used as the kernel control unit of this system. The system network structure is established, the hardware architecture of the system is designed, and the system working procedures is given. The characteristic of the system is self-organization, without-center and the unnecessary for base stations. The system can be used in many emergent occasions rescuing at the scene and play a unique role in the emergency system of the community.
