Abstract
One of the main disadvantages of the Hough techniques is the requirement of heavy computation for the transform. To reduce the computation time, a simple sampling technique of the image pixels is suggested. The performance of this sampling Hough Transform is comparable to the standard Hough techniques but the computation time is significantly reduced. In the evaluation of the performance of this new sampling Hough technique, a number of real images have been studied. The present approach is capable of detecting lines and circles with any thickness, even for a line with one pixel width
