Abstract :
A method for automatically segmenting range images is presented. A split-and-merge pass divides one slice from a laser scanner into contiguous, fitted splines, then an aggregation pass collects them into regions. The approach takes advantage of the scanner configuration to perform better segmentation and to facilitate parallel processing
