Abstract :
A preconditioning technique is used to accelerate the convergence rate of iterative methods applied to image restoration problems. The authors introduce the preconditioned conjugate gradient method applied to the normal equations (PCGN) and discuss the design of a preconditioner. The analytical result on the convergence rate of the preconditioned method and the spectral properties of the preconditioned matrix are summarized. Numerical experiments were used to compare the convergence rates of iterative methods with and without preconditioning, and the results are presented
