Abstract
This paper tries to present a conceptual model for studying the influence of knowledge management strategies on the performance of universities and institutions of higher education. Because of lack of knowledge management specific model in higher education, the proposed models for non educational environments have been used as guides to present a new model that considers knowledge management dimensions. Different strategies, critical success factors, knowledge management practices and performance indicators discussed in publications refer to higher education, were searched and these indicators connected with knowledge management were studied in different aspects. In this paper first recognize, analyze and classify the affective factors on the relationship between knowledge management strategies, organizational performance and knowledge management practices in universities and then a model to investigate the influence of different KM strategies on universities and institutes of higher education institutes.
