Abstract :
Pulsed coherent X-band radar has been operated from shore and from board a ship to scan the sea surface velocities by separating the influences from wind and underlying currents. Test sites lie at tidal inlets of the German Bight that is part of the North Sea. Under the use of Precise Differential Global Positioning Systems (PDGPS) geo-coded radar current maps were produced.
