Abstract
The paper provides an overview of our recent developments in wide-area real-time stability monitoring tools for large-scale power systems. These tools are based on synchronized wide-area phasor measurements from synchrophasors. The technology is aimed at fast automatic detection of instability phenomena related to any of angle, voltage or small-signal stability phenomena in power systems. The paper will provide an overview of some of the algorithms used, and a summary of industry implementations that are currently underway.
