Abstract :
The work reported has been carried out as part of the HD-SAT project, part of the European Community´s RACE programme. The authors, who have been investigating the various options for concatenated forward error correction coding of the digital signal, report on some of the fundamental considerations, as well as indicating the broad options taken and directions for future work. A technique of block interleaving is described and code performance measurement is discussed
