Abstract :
A new system which is intended for digital broadcast applications in television distribution (e.g. to cable head-ends), business television, satellite news gathering etc. is described. The system bit-rate can be set between 4 and l2 Mbit/s per TV channel. This fits between CMTT 30 Mbit/s and upwards digital encoding systems intended for high-quality contribution and distribution applications, and low bit-rate Video-Conference type systems with bit-rates up to some 2 Mbit/s. The system is aimed initially at applications requiring from one up to thousands of satellite receivers, and can be transmitted via any suitable (non-processing, C-band or Ku-band etc.) satellite transponder
