Abstract
The first part describes a small but high-powered containerised earth station designed to uplink from the broadcaster´s premises. This eliminates the high cost of vision and sound circuits needed to deliver the signal to the uplink at a distant location. The second part describes why developed compression techniques can be expected to have a major impact on satellite links, and explores some of the consequences for earth station design
