The measurement of biomagnetic activity

The new field of brain magnetic measurement is likely to make a major contribution to the understanding of brain function during the next decade. Results to date from scalp measurements show that it is possible to locate cortical activity to within 1-2 mm and magnetic activity in the depth of the brain to within 5-7 mm. Early results show that epileptic discharges can be satisfactorily monitored by this method, as can evoked potentials
