Abstract
The control of a permanent magnet motor, consisting of a voltage-source PWM inverter with a rotor position sensor, current sensors, and ROM tables for current phase control, is described, and the basic equation of the motor is presented. Three types of rotor configurations and motor specifications are shown. Four current-phase control methods are then studied and compared. The most suitable current control method and rotor geometry are determined by computer simulation and the experimentation, taking the saliency of the motor into account.<>
